I joined the bears in 2005 after being persuaded by Tom to attend a training session in Solihull. I immediately felt a part of the team and this has allowed me to not only progress as a player, but also as an important role within the management of the team. The family spirit has always meant I have and will always have full loyalty to The Bears- a team I feel I can have a long and successful future with.
‘Once a Bear, always a Bear!’

Club Secretary

“The biggest enjoyment I get these days is seeing a new player come through the door at their first training session and then seeing their face at the end of it. Seeing their enjoyment and excitement to continue in turn makes me excited for each session. Another great satisfaction is witnessing players progress and improve, establishing themselves in the team. Accompanying players in the journey from timid first training session to scoring their first basket in a game is a feeling unparalleled in my position as coach. Increasing individual players’ ability and enjoyment as they progress with the sport is my ultimate aim; each time this is achieved it is a victory for the whole team.”

Tom Masterson
Bears Head Coach

“Wheelchair basketball gave me something back after my accident. Joining the Bears not only made me more confident but also stronger as a person.”
