The Bears are involved with the community of Warwickshire catchment, and its surrounding areas. We feel that it is important to set solid links at grass root level, schools and colleges. The Bears host many taster sessions; we provide children with the opportunity to try wheelchair basketball, as well as encourage them to overcome adversity, break down prejudices, and furthermore, educate them more about disabilities in the process. The Bears also help in the setting up and running of local satellite clubs that are run after school.
‘The Bears WCBC coaching staff have been nothing other than inspirational to the Myton Bear Cubs WCBC. Their continued support has had a huge impact on our satellite club and, importantly, on the young people who attend. A massive thank you to ‘The Bears’

‘I took a group of students from a local school to the Warwickshire Bears for a taster session. It was great to see the students all start on a similar level with regards to their ability, it’s not often that you can run a sporting activity where one or two do not have a distinct advantage. Tom, the coach, was extremely knowledgeable and engaging ensuring that the students were kept busy and progressed through a number of skills, culminating in a match at the end.’
‘It was great to see students who had previously struggled to integrate with the group and lacking confidence engaged and smiling. I would thoroughly recommend organising a taster session to any school, sports or youth club. We are already looking to organise future sessions.’
